For Language Arts time, we have small guided reading groups and centers and then switch to whole group instruction on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have whole group instruction first and then switch to centers. Each child is placed in a small reading group based on their ability. Centers stress what we are learning in whole group and provide an opportunity for the kids to practice their spelling words for the week. During centers time, we are using Reading Tickets which give the kids more choice and independence. There are several spelling groups with different spelling lists every week (to find your child's spelling list, please visit the "Spelling Lists" link below). Every Friday we take our Spelling Tests and our Weekly Assessments.
